Misogynist? Me?

I received a very nice rejection recently that did surprize me.
One of the reasons "why not" I'd heard a couple of times before.
They found my writing a bit disjointed to read.
You're not the only one mate, but that's how life feels to me. And by that I mean that I find the whole experience of being alive in the world disjointing.

The other reason why not surprized me.
They had a problem with the implied and in some cases overt misogny.

I'll not defend or explain myself just yet.
I'll just ask you, especially you ladies, do you think I'm a misogynist?

Am I like the only female reader?

You are misogynistic enough to be funny, but i think just a stereotypical male. But I'm not really the feminist type...

I've been working on gender/sex issues with ngos for years, so I believe I'm kind of expert :) I love you, this is just humour, no hard feelings for anyone I think..

If you wife reads your comics and stays around, then no - if you hide them from her and pray she never finds them, then...er...um that's different!

that old Crumbiest debate once again

Yes, and I'm no lady. But this is only my impression from reading your comics. Which, despite their offensive nature, are HYSTERICAL.

But, I think you secretly despise your wife's wifey ways. If you're anything like Spleenal, you secretly wish she were she were sluttier and child-free.

Spleenal is your secret life vent, just like any good artist. Just that your art centres around spanking and guilt-free sex with red-heads.

Which is why I love your stuff...

I don't think you are a misogynist. But I am also a redhead who likes to be spanked. So I may not be the most objective reader...

You know what I think? I think anyone who is publishing comics today and rejects you on the grounds of misogyny is a damn hypocrite. Any comic store you go to is flanked by walls of objectified women in skin-tight clothes, and if you don't look at the new crap, there's bdsm-inspired, self-consciously feminine Wonder Woman to talk about. And if they say that your comic is shallow, than its only as shallow as human life itself. It might get to you in the short-run, but keep drawing stuff as funny, thought-provoking and strangely real as this, and the world will have to eventually catch up to you.

Misogynist?

Misanthropist perhaps. None of the characters are paticularly sympathetic and the self-identified Spleenal character seems to bear the brunt of your bile.

It is very funny though.

i think maybe people have trouble separating Author from Character.

but, er, i've never particularly though it was mysoginistic!

No, you're not a misogynist. But like other female commenters have mentioned I'm not really the feminist type (it's been subverted into something else if you ask me) and I'm partial to the odd spanking...
I think you've fallen foul of the PC idiot brigade.

I hope I was one of those who subverted you

If you hate women or think they're of less worth than men, I'm not getting that out of the comic. You're making fun of Spleenal, not glorifying him. Even Spleenal himself realizes that he's whacked. I think it's brilliant. (from a feminist woman who's not into spanking)
